"...After all it was Joona Toivanen trio's performance on Thursday that raised the best cheers from the audience of the Jazz@Opera festival in Helsinki. The pianist Toivanen, the bassist Tapani Toivanen and the drummer Olavi Louhivuori played their original compositions, a little bit like Keith Jarrett’s type of trio jazz, exeptionally well nuanced.

The Toivanen brothers and Louhivuori have got the key to the poetics of the trio-dynamics a bit in a way the Trio Töykeät have the key to the swing of trio-dynamics.

But even though Joona Toivanen trio isn’t seemingly as 'cool' as Lenni-Kalle Taipale trio or Trio Töykeät their artistical quality may carry even further: the trio’s debut album will be released in Japan and there was a Japanese film crew to tape the concert as well."
